Paul Weller – The Changingman (1995)

1970年代後半から現在に至るまで、英国ロック界の第一線で活躍し続けているポール・ウェラー。 オアシス、オーシャン・カラー・シーンなど多くのフォロワーも生み出しました。

出生時に父親がポールにしようかジョンにしようか迷った挙句、結局ジョンに決めましたが、後になってやっぱりポールにしておけば良かったということでポールとして育てられました。なので本名はジョン・ウィリアム・ウェラー。　　　　　　

若い頃は音楽スタイルをコロコロ変え、そのたびにファンを失ってきましたが、必ずそこから這い上がってきた歴史もあります。そんなウェラー兄貴からの回答とも言える曲がこの「ザ・チェンジングマン」です。

I don’t have a plan（計画なんかない）

普通の社会人だとなかなか言えない言葉ではありますが、自分の無計画をこんなに力強く宣言されたらもう納得するほかありません。

Our time is on loan, only ours to borrow

（時間はローン。ただ借りてるだけ）

What I can’t be today, I can be tomorrow

（今日なれなかったものにも、明日はなれるかもしれない）

2006年のライブ。このころが一番カッコ良いかもしれませんね。
